FUSION is a non-profit volunteer organization providing transitional
housing and support services for families facing homelessness. Funds
raised through the effort of our community and volunteers go directly
to meeting our clients' needs.
Both FUSION and the Joseph
Foundation (an ecumenical-based organization), had been operating
independently for 15 years, providing transitional housing and support
to homeless families within Federal Way and Northeast Tacoma. FUSION
served homeless women and their children, and the Joseph Foundation
provided support to both single and dual parent homeless families.
In
2007, it became apparent that both organizations could better serve the
needs of our communities by merging. Working on this through 2008,
FUSION and the Joseph Foundation became one and the same on January 1,
2009, operating with the same mission to serve homeless families under
one name: FUSION.
With the merger, FUSION operates 15
transitional housing units: 10 condominium units in Federal Way and
five housing units in Northeast Tacoma, four of which are from the
bequeathed property of Helen and Stuart Noyes for the Joseph Foundation.
The
original 10 FUSION condominiums continue to focus on serving homeless
and women and their children as their primary clientele. The homes in
Tacoma continue to serve dual and single parent families, whether head
of the household is male or female.
FUSION has a consistent and
unusually high success rate. More than 85 percent of families
successfully move on to permanent housing. |
